Susie has kept SDMBA webpage up to date

Also had very regular communication with land managers 

  1. Status of volunteer work (protocols..)

La Costa near Copper Creek/4 volunteers trimmed overgrown area.

The city doesn’t want us to have group trailwork yet.

Trailforks raised 140k/we received $1,700.

  1. SDMBA is member of the Recreate Responsibly Coalition

Susie participates in weekly calls.

  1. Future Events (MLTF and Volunteer Appreciation Event)

  1. Ebike Position - (Susie) 

    1. Updated webpage info with basic sdmba position and Federal letters

  • Ebikes should be managed separately from MTB’s;

  • SDMBA supports land manager’s approval of Class 1 ebikes on natural surface.

  1. Cube bike donation  (Flyrides)

  1. aMTB access and new signage (Susie)  JEREMY McGhee  

“aMTB” = Adaptive MTB     1 rating- no support needed; 2 rating - may or may not need support

3 rating -can’t do this trail; you will need a support rider

    1. Black Mountain - new signs -

Black Widow trail is open

Susie & Matt documented history of Black Mtn.

  1. Daley Ranch - IMBA trail solutions starting work in August on trail assessment. Bobcat trail and Crest had significant work this year.

  2. Pacific Highlands Ranch Trail is complete and can be accessed from the North end of Pacific Highlands Ranch Parkway.

  3. Mother Miguel/Rockhouse working with USFWS to plan more trailwork, but currently in limbo.

  4. La Costa work planned for this winter on Whiptail and Switchbacks.

  5. Sycamore Canyon- Trails plan will have final circulation this year.

  6. Mt Laguna Trails Restoration Project update 

  7. Balboa Park work planned for this winter. 

  8. Construction of a new section of the Coast to Crest trail this winter planned. 

  9. Working with the City of San Diego on an updated plan for the San Ysidro area.  - development proposal for hills above 

Question: status of signage @ Del Mar Mesa; the directional trail is bike only; it’s still two-way trail but a one-way bike trail; Tunnel 1 closed off at east end due to construction

  1. Bike Park updates (Susie)

    1. Sweetwater Bike Park - averages 200-300 people/day

      1. Volunteer ambassadors 

    2. Otay Valley Regional Park Bike Park (County) -

      1.  breaking ground this summer to be open by end of 2020

      2. Modest pump track; smaller than Sweetwater - 2 acres

    3. City of Carlsbad - Veteran’s Memorial Park -draft plan submitted last week

Same size as Sweetwater; dual slalom course/pump track and many other features.

  3. City of La Mesa  2 proposed plans for small pump track element, public survey in July

  4. City of Alpine (County Project)  Prelim design in a couple of months. 

 
  1. SDMBA and CAMTB (Susie)  

Set up as 501c4 - goal is to hire a lobbyist. CAMTB.org; one goal is to fill the void which happened when IMBA stopped giving us representation;

Strong push to have state parks work with MTB representation.
