  1. Welcome and Introductions (Susie Murphy)

    1. Susie Murphy - Executive Director

    2. All the membership $ that was previously sent to IMBA is all staying in-house and was crucial in hiring a new trails coordinator. Hiring a Trails Coordinator also kept consulting fees to a minimum

    1. Promotional video available on Facebook

    2. Rancho Guejito - last intact Mexican land grant in CA, about 22,000 acres

      1. The size of Pamo Valley/Cuyamaca Rancho State Park

    3. Near San Pasqual Valley, past the Safari Park entrance

    4. Private ranch - cattle, citrus, grapes, wine

      1. Winery - seasonal wine tasting on the weekends

      2. Activities - hayride, some public-facing

    5. Orosco Ridge dead-ends into property

    6. February 23rd, 2019 - rain date the weekend after

 
  1. County General Plan Amendments (Ben)

    1. Lilac Hills, Village 13/14/16/19

    2. Save our San Diego Countryside Initiative

      1. Any amendment of general plan will need to go on ballot to county

        1. 2020 ballot

      2. 4 general plan amendments this year, 4 next year

        1. Each one with potentially 3 projects

    3. Significant upzoning has been occurring

      1. Several in Otay, one in Proctor Valley

        1. Trails put into plan for 13, working on getting trails into property in other areas

      2. Important areas to keep an eye on

 
  1. Sweetwater Bike Park (Susie)

    1. On Facebook, like the Sweetwater Bike Park Facebook page

    2. In rural Bonita

    3. Break ground this winter

      1. Determining which bidder gets the contract

      2. 2 bidders pre-qualified: Schneider Grading and Progressive Bike from Bentonville, Arkansas

    4. Conceptual plan is available

      1. Jump lines, tot track, flow trails, etc.

    5. County - document for community sponsorship

      1. YMCA, Sharp, other groups are potential sponsors

      2. County of San Diego Parks Society

        1. Potential fund set up for smaller donations for bike park

      3. Any leads for businesses in town that would be interested in sponsoring the park?

        1. Money for enhancement, features, ex. Wall-ride, shade structure

      4. 4 acre area

      5. Otay Valley RP - another bike park on City of Chula Vista property

      6. Agreement

        1. SDMBA to help fund a staff position for the bike park

        2. Fundraising, events, volunteer system - not responsible for maintenance, opening and closing

        3. Help to advertise events, attract attention to park

      7. Chula Vista BMX

        1. Event in conjunction with this new bike park/local BMX track

      8. Two other bike parks in budget

        1. North County, east county

        2. Potential bike park in Homefed project from Main St. - Otay Lakes

  2. Cleveland National Forest: Mt. Laguna (Ben)

    1. Good news - project is moving forward

  3. Rockhouse/Mother Miguel Update (Jose)

    1. Jose is working with Jill Turp - US Fish & Wildlife to plan work days

    2. Will plan work dates to work on turns planned last year

 
  1. Deer Canyon Update (Matt)

    1. Background

      1. Lots of single-point trails in the area, long-term agreement was to create loops

    2. Moving equipment is plowing and grading sections

      1. Moving agricultural land

      2. Grading permit - now through January

    3. Trail to be re-established

      1. Matt working with Gina - ranger in the area for trail rerouting

      2. We will be responsible after some poison oak removal

    4. City to maintain area in the future with trail access guaranteed

      1. Connector loop through Tunnels

    5. Fencing around the area

      1. There is no legal easement there currently

    6. SANDAG’s purchase of property is advantageous

      1. Area will be established

 
  1. Black Mountain Open Space Update/Black Widow (Matt

    1. Hiked Black Widow and mapped out top turns

      1. Turns 10-15 foot radius and reinforced

    2. Build dates are up in the air

      1. Matt meetings with Ed tomorrow and finalization for materials

      2. Goal is to bring in water tank truck to aid in areas that need to be built on

    3. Build time

      1. Two-phase plan

      2. Scar to be rehabbed, new contour trail

        1. To be made a legal trail

        2. Flow, speed, looping turns at the bottom

      3. Fix singletrack and turns at the bottom

        1. Connection to fireroad - reroute out of cactus garden

        2. Another 200-300 yards of singletrack

    4. Lusardi Canyon

      1. HOA is interested in neighborhood trail

      2. Permitting process would happen after HOA approval

    5. Manzanita

      1. Extra part is still in the books

    6. Digging this winter?

      1. Rockhouse work days, building in Julian this winter

        1. Machine building to being in Julian

      2. Walking Mount Laguna, looking into reroutes
