Item 1. Committee Structure/Reporting (Kevin/Robert) 15 mins.
Susie, Robert, Kevin, and Jay put together a structure for committees to report to board
Better organization
Committees to meet and present to the board - summarize what they are in charge for during the year
See attached committee structure and reporting to see 2017-2018 schedule
The first committee report will be in October 2017 from Don and Ben - regarding the trails committee and advocacy committee. This will be done in conjunction with the strategic plan, presented by Susie.
Trails and advocacy committee presentation: figure out what you need for trail work, maintenance, anything that the board can do to help.
Future presentations will include: What we have done, what we will do, what numbers are, what we want them to be (goals)
What committee structure are you responsible for - how are we doing?
Yearend (November) sponsorship committee and development committee
December - Fun and Education committee (Jose/Skii-Jeff)
Jan 2018 - Finance (kevin)
Will be coming back to both strategic plan and budget quarterly
Organization is growing - we will be doing a CA council and a lot will be happening! Our organization needs to be built on a solid foundation with a plan, and this is it!
In order to grow and be able to survive, we need this structure.
We will do it this way once, then can reorganize the structure of committee reports whenever necessary
Item 2. Pamo Valley Update with Timelines (Ben) 15 mins.
Ben sent out an email with Pamo Valley updates
Steps to come:
ASAP we are trying to complete cost share agreement, needs to be reviewed
Master cost share agreement and specific project agreements
Board will see cost share agreement before it goes out
Approved $10-12k for the cost share agreement in previous meetings
This is to be finished in the next month or two
2. ID Team Meeting (end of September)
Will include Cleveland National Forest resource staff and leadership
Joey doing a presentation about Orosco Ridge trail system.
Feedback will be given. Then, it is formally in resource staff hands.
3. Field surveys - (through March 2018 on the timeline) This can/may also be pushed back if necessary. These surveys will be given to District Ranger Chris Dowling.
Recommendations on impacts will be made to the ranger. Then, there will be a comment period.
5. June 2018 County grants open up
Notes:
Estimates now are up to 20 miles of trails, up from 10-12.
Building cost estimates (by Drew Perkins) - $4000-$17,000 per mile
Costs have been estimated anywhere before 4000-95,000 per mile
Don Sutton - trail designers and builders will be excited about this project! Don Sutton has connections with contractors licensed and from California.
Ben: we will be open to options, the costs will mostly be associated with building
Questions/comments:
Kevin: need to look at every single aspect of the timeline and ask questions in order to make this plan work
Take the baseline that Ben has made and put it into a project plan/timeline
Everything else will follow the same project plan/template
Mount Laguna will be a separate process - will be more complicated based on archaeological issues
Thanks to Ben for moving this project forward
This area is the best place identified for recreation by the forest service
